Writing a routine is not hard, you just need a pen and a paper and you can plan how your day can be like but when it comes to sticking with it and following through a lot of people fail.

1) Start Small: Start with simple tasks you can finish up easily and build momentum, after you've done it consistently then you keep on adding more till you are fulfil with your tasks.

2) Reward Yourself: Entice yourself by rewarding whenever you do stick to your routine, gift yourself money or if you hit the one month mark buy yourself a new shirt, it'll motivate you to keep at it.

Our body is programmed in an awesome way. There are things when we start newly, they look boring and tiresome but in the long run we like it. While sometimes we start something, they look interesting and cool but after doing it for a couple of days they become boring. I just think we need drive or motivation in whatever we do. The willpower to do something depends on what the drive is. What is pushing us that is only when we can be resilient in doing that which we do.

Yeah, sometimes you need to trick your brain to let you do stuffs haha, sounds trite but the brain is always going to seek for comfort, it does not want you to go through pain and your consciousness knows you need pain to grow, so there's always a struggle going on, if you dopamine is in control, you can be able to overpower your brain easily else you are going to find it difficult to get stuffs done.

Exercising and lowering your exposure to dopamine induced activities like watching social media etc can help you to chain grip it and put it under control .

Most people find it hard to stick to a routine because they just go all in and expect changes at the very beginning. When it comes to doing something you are not used to, it is best you start small, so you can slowly adjust to the changes.

Starting small surely helps, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step, changing is hard, it is not surprising why people stay the same their whole lives, some have tried to change some things but kept on falling short, change does not have to be like that, as you have alluded, starting small is the key to change anything, instead of implementing your long term goals today.

Just start by winning the day, get a ToDo list and write a quality productive tasks you want to get done today, then you do it the next.

Keep the streak going and then build on that.

Exactly, this is where a lot of people are getting things wrong, they want to immediately change everything about them in the blink of an eye. It's just like a person who has been smoking for years suddenly decides to quit and people expects him to just hate smoking within minutes. It will take time, his circle of friends needs to change, the places he goes to hang out needs to change, his hobbies needs to change and so on.
