This is because when it comes to mental health issues we always tend to close up due to fear and stigma. Some people fear that others may look down on them which is somehow true, consider them as being weak or may even start treating them appallingly. Some will actually be embarrassed or they think they should tough everything out and complete it by themselves. Others may lack knowledge in mental health or they may be paranoid about becoming a nuisance to household and relatives. These are the worries that make it even though talking can help difficult. Some don’t even know where to begin or don’t have someone safe to tell what happened to them; it takes courage to open up but it is the first step to healing.

The main reason why people don't open up about their mental health is because thy are afraid to be judged or seen in a bad light, as society is built in a way that being vulnerable is easily exploited by other people, it also paints a victim mentality, hence most people just hide it and live with it until they can't anymore.

It's not all doom and gloom, new safe spaces has sprung up over the years and there has been some improvements, you can now call a mental health coach and have a free consultation that will help you a lot.
