Sales Skills can sell a bad product in the short term but in the long term it is going to back fire and you'll lose all of the initial client you have, I've seen it happen countless times on social media where founders or service providers are called out for their inferior products and services.

The best combination is good sales skills and an average product, there are also good products that are left on the shelf because the owners don't know how to sell, it's important for every entrepreneur to learn sales and strive to create an average or an excellent product.

Have you heard about pet rock? Many years ago, a marketer sold stones as pet rock and became a millionaire just by selling stones. If you have marketing skills, you can sell anything. If you do not believe be go and check some highest selling products. These products are selling not because they are awesome, they are selling well because the companies have used wonderful marketing techniques. The best examples is soda, there is no nutrition yet they sell more than juices.

It's true, Soda has no nutritional value but it still sells, in this case of Soda you might say they are not valuable nutritionally but the taste is great, nothing beats the taste of a cool Coke after a stressful day at work and it is also cheaper than say an organic fruit juice hence people go for it.

So all in all we can't say they're not valuable, human beings have different motivations when it comes to buying, I can think of probably the last 10 things I've bought most of the purchases were just on impulse or emotional.
