At a point in business, there has to be sacrifice for one or the other and initially in the beginning what a business should focus on us growth, if you're not growing your business then there isn't any chance you would wind up successful down the road, after achieving growth you can then start paying attention to profitability.

There is also a caveat here though, which is, depending on your business model you can switch one for the other, for example a small scale business will fail woefully if they chase growth rather than profits in their early days, a business owner should know how to prioritize this decisions given the known variables.

Growth and profits both are important but I thing you don't have to segregate between these two, they are more or less similar concept or at least related concepts. If your business grows, you profits will also grow. If your business is making profits, you can also grow your business. If you are for a long race, you need to start reinvesting your profits so that you can continue to grow your business. This is the best strategy for growth as well as profit.
